About the role:


This newly established role within our Cannabinoid Structure requires a dynamic and forward-thinking entrepreneur who not only has expertise in cannabis, inhalation technology, and supply chain but also has a blend of start-up experience and corporate acumen with a specialized focus on medical and consumer wellness cannabis products.

The incumbent will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our business by strategically analysing and planning the supply chain and manufacturing processes to produce medical cannabis products. The individual will collaborate closely with project teams while taking full accountability for developing comprehensive business cases to support manufacturing footprint expansion.

As Global Head of Operations – Cannabinoids, you will:


• Have a deep understanding and global network of the cannabinoid business category and will provide expertise in cannabis and inhalation technology, supply chain, and (COGs) optimization to support the creation of a respected business for the category.
• Provide leadership, vision, agility, solutions, and strategic planning, for all areas in manufacturing and supply operations for the Cannabinoid category.
• Influence the overall category performance – Providing support and experience for the Go-to-Market strategy, from upstream agricultural plant through to final product supply (from seed to product). This will include assessing the strength and readiness of current and future technology delivery systems.
• Identify and implement robust and compliant systems and processes to manage all operational aspects of the cannabis business. This will include tracking the quality of pilot program execution to ensure learnings will benefit future programs.
• Take learnings from consumer insights on pilot programs to help optimize current propositions and plans for future launches.
• Evaluate the potential segment size within Inhalable CBD
• Demonstrated ability to identify market opportunities, navigate challenges, and drive innovation within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Passionate about leveraging expertise to empower emerging businesses and contribute to the overall success of the Cannabinoid business



Key Accountabilities:


• Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive HNB Hemp Operations strategic plan for the future supply of raw materials and manufacturing processes for medical and wellness cannabis products, aligned with organizational timelines, deliverables, milestones, and industry standards required for successful product launches.
• Business Case Development: Lead the formulation of detailed business cases for manufacturing footprint expansion, encompassing cost analysis, capacity planning, risk assessment, and ROI projections.
• Manufacturing Excellence: Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations to enhance quality, productivity, and scalability, leveraging innovative technologies and best practices
• Supply Chain Optimization: Oversee the optimization of supply chain operations related to sourcing, procurement, logistics, and inventory management, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Coordination & Collaboration: Drive alignment and coordination in Operations by bringing together all parties across Product, PMI Manufacturing, SFP (PMI) and VFP as well as any external suppliers & partners. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, finance, regulatory affairs, and marketing) to align supply and manufacturing strategies with overall business objectives and manage relationships with suppliers & partners involved in manufacturing and distribution.
• Internal Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with Regulatory experts to ensure legal and compliance requirements are met and adhered to, including product registration, labelling, safety, and quality standards. Stay abreast of evolving regulations and standards in the medical cannabis industry. Liaise with Clinical, Medical, Toxicology and external partners for relevant scientific substantiation and support.
• Market Focus: Ensure market research, consumer preferences and competition considerations are considered and correlated, to inform decision-making and integration into supply chain and distribution.
• Team Leadership: Ensure effective ‘day to day’ management of the programs maintaining sight and ensuring resolution/mitigation/escalation of any risks, issues, or blockers. Mentor and develop a high-performing team.
• Project Management: Plan and oversea successful product launch, including marketing campaigns, distribution strategies and sales efforts, ensuring learnings are captured and inform future strategy. Track program performance against KPIs and report progress to respective leadership.


Required Experience:


• Cannabinoid industry experience is essential across the full scope of product research and development, market access, and commercial / business acumen.
• A forward-thinking entrepreneur with a start-up ‘test and learn’ mind-set and approach to drive transformative initiatives.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to unite a team behind a single vision.
• Excellent integration and collaboration skills, with the ability to integrate cross-functional project team inputs.
• Demonstrable expertise in the inhaled Medical and Consumer Wellness segment for Cannabinoids.
• Excellent scenario planning and problem-solving skills, comfortable with ambiguity.
• Experience building strong relationships with a broad range of (global) external suppliers to deliver an integrated value chain.
