Position Overview:


The Manager of Operations Cannabinoids is a pivotal role in shaping the future of medical cannabis products operations and business, by strategically analysing and planning the supply chain and manufacturing processes to produce medical cannabis products. The incumbent collaborates closely with project teams while taking full accountability for developing comprehensive business cases to support manufacturing footprint expansion.

He/she must:

• Actively support the Cannabinoid Category Leadership Team.
• Manage strategic project planning and execution for relevant areas in strategy, manufacturing and supply chain operations for category.
• Provide support and experience for the Go to Market strategy, from upstream agricultural plant through to final product supply (from seed to product).
• Identify and implement robust and compliant systems and processes to manage all operational aspects of the cannabis business.


Key Accountabilities:

• Strategic Planning: Support the development and execution of a comprehensive Operations strategic plan for the supply of raw materials and manufacturing processes for medical cannabis products, aligned with organizational timelines, deliverables, goals, regulatory and industry standards required for successful product launches.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Finance, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Operations, and Marketing, to align supply and manufacturing strategies with overall business objectives. Manage relationships with these colleagues and suppliers & partners involved in manufacturing and distribution.
• Manage complex projects & programs according to Project Management methodologies and company stage-gate process, meeting Schedule, Cost, Performance and Quality Requirements.
• Liaise with Clinical, Medical, Toxicology and external partners for relevant scientific substantiation and support.
• Business Case Development: Lead the formulation of detailed business cases for manufacturing footprint expansion, encompassing cost analysis, capacity planning, risk assessment, and ROI projections.
• Supply Chain Optimization: Support the optimization of supply chain operations related to sourcing, procurement, logistics, and inventory management, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure data from market research, consumer preferences and competition are considered and correlated, to support decision-making and integration into SC and Distribution.
• Work closely with Regulatory experts to ensure legal and compliance requirements are met and adhered to, including product registration, labelling, safety, and quality standards. Stay abreast of evolving regulations and standards in the medical cannabis industry.
• Actively support the Commercial team for successful product launch, including marketing campaigns, distribution strategies and sales efforts, ensuring learnings are captured to inform future projects and strategy.
• Track program performance against KPIs and report progress to CB/VFP/PMI leadership.
• Develop, lead, motivate and guide project team members to ensure the objectives are continuously met. Improve the performance of the project team and others by setting clear objectives, reviewing achievements, coaching, assessing training needs and providing development opportunities.
• Act as a role model in compliance management by carrying out all the accountabilities in a legal and ethical manner and in line with compliance requirements.
