About the role
The infrastructure engineer is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of Infrastructure Technologies and that meet current and future business needs. They identify systems that support the company strategy, policies, and other technology areas. They are accountable for implemented services being able operate within the defined requirements of a qualified infrastructure. They consult on the existing environment and how its features can be used to maximize value in the context of the business plans.
Principal Accountabilities
Ensure running operation of implemented Infrastructure Technologies and Vectura Systems. Implement preventative measures to minimize the number of unplanned downtimes.
Maintain the implemented Infrastructure Technologies and Vectura systems through their productive life, scheduling routine maintenance (eg patching, updates) as needed and meeting OLA obligations
Manage vendors to ensure implemented technologies are supported and maintained to SLAs Verify the DR / continuous operation of services is effective through monitoring (eg backups) and testing (eg annual DR initiation)
Maintain up-to-date baselines and configuration documents in the company operational systems · Follow all company policies to ensure a controlled environment meeting the regulatory requirements for the company
Provide 3rd line support for escalated Service Desk tickets, working at other service levels as necessary to ensure that normal service operations are restored.
Identify infrastructure technologies that will add value to Vectura and identify the business case for action
Define systems and projects in line with the agreed business case, working within major projects and leading implementation projects
Ensure incorporation of security by design · Lead and ensure that services are taken into operations in a controlled way, including identification of KPI, SLA. OLA, DR plans and all other operational requirements
Provide updates and reports as required to provide transparency of operations
Ensure all budget items are planned effectively across budget cycles, covering both operational, change and project requirements
Provide mentoring to other team members to develop their skill
What you need
Advanced knowledge of Active Directory / Group Policy
Advanced knowledge of VMware (VCP)
Advanced Administration Experience with Office 365
A proven understanding of network services & protocols, network hardware and technologies. (CCNA preferable) · Proficiency with shared storage technologies.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Server and Workstation operating systems (MCSE level)
Extensive knowledge of data privacy laws.
Precise attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Advanced organizational skills.
Advanced level of knowledge of DNS, DHCP, e-mail, FTP, SFTP
5 years’ experience in a similar Infrastructure role/contract
Experience working in a regulated environment.
